Hi friends! If you’ve been hanging around here for awhile you’ve probably read a few blurbs or seen insta stories about Epstein Barr Virus in my life. You can read more about my back history with it here. In this post I am going to walk you through how I am actively working with my nurse practitioner to completely eradicate it from my body.. and all the people said, hallleeelujerrrrr!

Ok so how am I fighting the beast? Excited to share with you the detailed protocol my practitioner made up for me. Remember that there is no one specific prescribed protocol for healing. I’m sharing what I do below in hopes that it helps you in some way. If anything, these things will probably make you healthier overall anyway.. since fighting this means building your immunity! How can that be a bad thing?! It is always best to discuss your plan with your healthcare provider about the best line up for you! I hope this helps you and please feel free to leave me a comment or email me with any questions you may have!!

The purpose of these treatments:

You’ll notice that everything on this list is a natural treatment. Unfortunately there are no proven treatments for erradicating Epstein-Barr, so my main goal & mission has been to work with my practitioners on natural antiviral treatments that we hope will send it into remission. Through trial & error I believe we will get there! I just stared this protocol below and I will be retested in a few months to see how things are working. Anxious to report back on that soon!

Remember, instead of just treating symptoms, your goal is to:

  1. Suppress and try to eliminate the virus from your body.

  2. Create such an environment in your body where the virus can’t thrive.

My natural Epstein-Barr Virus treatment protocol:N

Lauricidin: Monolaurin Supplement

Lauricidin® is the brand name for monolaurin, a derivative of the lauric found in coconut oil. Scientifically, it’s pure sn-1 monolaurin (glycerol monolaurate), a natural, plant-based medium-chain fat derived from lauric acid.

Lauricidin is a natural antiviral and helps promote a healthy gut environment, too. It promotes a strong immune defense, supports a healthy balance of gut bacteria, and maintains healthy levels of yeast

I take one scoop in the morning and one in the evening!

Intenzyme Forte

Intenzyme Forte is a proteolytic enzyme that helps to break up biofilms… aka sticky films that the virus uses to hang out and replicate. It may be used support numerous protein metabolism pathways. The benefits include its effect on muscle soreness and discomfort due to overexertion, the support of hormone processing, as well as providing support for healthy digestive and circulatory functions. A really really good one to have when fighting ebb and building immunity!!

NAC is a precursor to glutathione which is your master detoxes. If your body is dealing with a large toxic burden then it cannot put energy forth to keep EBV at bay. It chelates heavy metals, reduces inflammation and oxidative stress. Basically, you need this one in your cabinet as a key player in your EBV protocol!

L-Lysine is an antiviral specifically used against the herpes family. The same building block that helps treat cold sores can also help fight cancer. This amino acid has been known for years to treat herpes virus and recover from workouts but it is good for so much more beyond that.. from diabetes to anxiety. Among all of its benefits, it supports a healthy gut which when you’re dealing with EBV, you need to work on your gut since that is the place where disease originates. Building a healthy gut is a huge step in getting this virus out of your systems and into remission.

Selenium prevents viral replication and is also really good for thyroid function. It is an extremely vital mineral for the human body as it increases immunity, takes part in antioxidant activity that defends against free radical damage and inflammation and plays a key role in maintaining a healthy metabolism! It may also defend against cancer, improve blood flow and lowers change of heart disease, regulates thyroid function, increases longevity and can help boost fertility. So even beyond eradicating EBV it is great for your body in every sense. I take a supplement for selenium but brazil nuts are a great source and a great way to get selenium in your diet daily!

Zinc is an essential trace element. It benefits the body in many ways… its very important for your immune system, thyroid, helps with hormone production and facilitates digestion. It is an amazing anti-inflammatory agent which is key in fighting EBV!

Lifestyle Changes

The rest of the things on this list are what I consider important for your overall health. When healing from any chronic condition, your overall health is of the utmost importance. It’s important to create an environment in your body where your cells can heal.

Clean Eating & Nutrition

We all know that fruits and veggies are good for us. Eat more of them!

Five to six servings of veggies, and two to three servings of whole fruit per day will do wonders for your health! I also juice celery EVERY morning first thing after I take my thyroid pill. It has helped my gut immensely and is amazing for helping irradiate ebv from your body. Read more about this in Thyroid Healing or The Medical Medium.

AVOID Processed foods! They require a lot of WORK for your body to process. They ruin your gut bacteria, effect your immunity, bog down your liver, and don’t nourish your body. Consume as few processed foods as possible because you can’t find EBV if you have a weekend immune system! Remember, every time you eat you are feeding something… health or disease!

AVOID Sugar! Sugar is a potent immunosuppressant

Supplements are tricky because while they absolutely do not replace a healthy lifestyle or healthy eating habit, they can definitely fill in gaps and boost your nutrient intake.

Along with the antivirals above, this is what I take:

Multivitamin: Start with a good multivitamin instead of taking a bunch of one-off doses of vitamin D, B vitamins, or C.

Extra vitamin D: If necessary, take extra vitamin D. A simple blood test from your doctor will reveal your vitamin D levels, and this is one of the easiest deficiencies to fix with a high-quality vitamin D3 supplement. Functional medicine specialists will want your vitamin D levels to be between 50–100 nanograms/milliliter on your lab results. If it’s lower, take an extra vitamin D3 supplement.

Probiotic: A healthy gut is necessary for a healthy immune system. I don’t really love fermented foods but I try to get in as much Kombucha in my diet as well as taking a probiotic with breakfast every morning. I get my probiotics from Young Living. You can order yours here!

Ashwagandha: Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb, meaning your cells can adapt its use to your needs. Isn’t that so cool?! The Medical Medium book mentions ashwagandha as beneficial for people with high levels of EBV, and my doctor recommended it to help prevent adrenal fatigue. I take usually add the powder to my smoothies!

Working to Optimize Detox Pathways

Detoxing is sooooo important and super imperative to your overall health. Making sure to have a bowel movement daily, sweating regularly, epsom salt baths, dry brushing, drinking plenty of clean, filtered water (We have a Berkey Water Filter we LOVE… you can purchase yours here), and infrared sauna sessions! I just bought a sauna package and I am super excited to detox in this way and can’t wait to see how it improves my health!

Better Quality Sleep

I have always been the type to go to bed early.. I am so not a night owl! I am in bed by 9 and asleep by 10. It is KEY to health that you are sleeping enough. Literally everything goes off track when you aren’t sleeping enough… including your immune system which you don’t want to mess with especially in this case when we are trying to fight off EBV!

Reducing Stress

Take some time everyday for self care. It is soooo key to your health! Yoga, meditation, getting out in nature… all very good things for you regardless of if you have ebv not.. it will always be a good thing for you!

Stay positive, friend & hopefully, and be kind to yourself. Life and health tend to come in cycles and seasons. Keep your thoughts positive and continue working towards feeling good.
